About us

Oklahoma Buddhist Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and practice of the teachings of the Buddha.  Our resident monks are trained in the Theravada tradition, but we invite Buddhists of all traditions to practice with us.

The Oklahoma Buddhist Center planted its first seed in May of 2007 with the visit of Venerable Sathindriya from Minnesota.  We nourished that first seedling with the help of Venerable Piyarathana, who arrived in September of 2007.  We were able to conduct our services in various locations such as the local Thai temple.  Before long, we were kindly offered a facility by one of our friend.

Over the next two years, the Center grew tremendously in its membership and Dhamma activities.  We were able to begin the new year of 2010 by purchasing a place of our own, through the generosity of all the members, well-wishers and numerous supporters of the Oklahoma Buddhist Center.

To our joy, two new teachers have joined us at the Oklahoma Buddhist Center: Venerable Yasassi and Venerable Chandananda  Through the work of these resident monks and our sangha members, we have established this new Center to serve all who seek the light of the Buddhist teachings and world peace.

The Center operates solely on donations. Dana, the generosity of laypeople, is used to maintain the Center and cover the monks’ living expenses.

Everyone is welcome. Please invite anyone you know who is interested to visit and practice with us.
